A man leaps off a rooftop to escape his reality and the apathetic world in which he lives, only to question his existence in another. A modern psychosis.

“A Day Like Tonight is a short experimental film exploring the inner dialogue, sensations and dreamlike bizarreness a man experiences as he is consumed and affected by a world of disconnect, indifference and purposeless existence. Exploring themes of mental health, suicide and entrapment, the short showcases the sensorial world of internal conflict.”

LOCATION AND TRIVIA

‘Hofgut Schmitte’ first mentioned in history books as early as 1512.
This unique, enchanted former mill and weapon smith in the centre of Germany in the stunning Biebertaal was the catalyst that inspired Philipp to make his debut short ‘A Day Like Tonight’.
The creaky and dusty building which stood empty for over a hundred years had an energy unmatched and told many stories, which played a pivotal role in the writing as well as shooting of the film.
At times it almost felt like we were not alone.
As the building has since been refurbished and developed, this film captured its essence and tells its very last story.
And it helped us to tell this one.
